THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Annual income has been made a criterion for reservation under socially and educationally backward classes (SEBC) category for admissions to degree courses under University of Kerala from this year.
Non-creamy layer certificate has to be submitted for this. Those students with an annual income of more than Rs 6 lakh and are finding difficulty to apply in the reserved category can apply if they get non-creamy layer certificate from authorities concerned, a statement issued by University of Kerala said.
They must mention whether they belong to creamy layer or non-creamy layer. Students who have already submitted applications by mentioning annual income below Rs 6 lakh need not make changes in the application. However, all who gets admission under SEBC category must submit non-creamy layer certificates at the time of admission.
Those who fail to submit the certificate will lose their admission. This is not applicable for students under general and SC/ST categories.
Students in OEC category are eligible for reservation under OBH/OBX categories. However, they must mention it in online application.
